Fletch is a hilarious movie that even watching once, you won’t catch all of the witticisms. Chevy Chase is Irwin Fletcher, Jane Doe, Dr. Rosenrosen, Ted Nugent and a host of other hilarious characters. This isn’t a movie that makes you think, it is a movie that makes you laugh. I loved it the first time I saw it, and have laughed and enjoyed it every time since. Fletch is a reporter, constantly going undercover to find new stories, when a wealthy man offers him a fortune to kill him, he starts to research why. The hilarity of Chase and the chase makes this movie. There really isn’t much to say… if you don’t have any elephant books, try this movie out for a laugh, I guarantee you will get some!

Finally - a reason to be happy. Ricky Gervais delivers a funny, touching, truthful comedy. It is not a broad American comedy, but will definitely be enjoyed by fans of The Office and Extras and may even sway some new fans. The low-key humor is upheld surprisingly well throughout the film, and though there is a Serious Message, it is well thought-out and not tacked on at the end. Gervais' character learns that lying can get you some wonderful things: Christopher Guest waves at you and Jennifer Garner will (consider) dating you. Instead of the movie working inextricably toward a moral conclusion, it sticks with the characters, which is a relief. The Invention of Lying is a comedy with ideas; fortunately it remains, throughout, a comedy first.

A rare movie indeed. It usually is a rare movie when an American studio gets together with an English production crew (much like Bridget Jones' Diary). As with most English movies (much like Bridget Jones' Diary) the costumer must have been out of their mind, very "quirky", do English people really think that's what American women wear? But all else is hilarious. Kevin Klein in one of his earlier roles created a masterpiece with this. He delivered like no one else could. Jamie Lee shines as a comedic actor and is, as always, gorgeous. Michael Palin and John Cleese...well, what can I say, they're brilliant, as usual. Definitely a very funny movie that keeps you entertained all the way through to the very satisfying ending.

This film is a flawless gem worthy of many awards. It's set in Sierra Leone, considered by the State Department to be one of the most dangerous places on earth and the place where many journalists trying to tell their story have died doing it. Leonardo diCaprio is at his very best, extremely convincing playing a mercenary in the midst of this horrendous, bloody, warring mess. The background on the corruption of the diamond trade, which is the heart of this tale, is integrated perfectly. Edward Zwick who directed "Glory" so well has done it again here, giving so much feeling to this movie yet keeping the pace and excitement at a peak. Djimon Housou ("In America") is haunting and should get best supporting actor as the poor fisherman who is forced into labor in the diamond fields, finds and loses the precious pink rock and fights to recover it against all odds to try to save his family and his son. Jennifer Connelly is the daring, beautiful journalist trying to uncover the truth about those behind the "conflict diamond" trade. It's stunning in its brutally, honest look at the poverty and politics of Africa, certainly worthy of Best Film of the year, Best Direction, Best Actor, Supporting Actor, Editing, Screenplay and Cinematography. Don't miss it, it really delivers a punch, politically, emotionally and for a story that needs to be told.

I would ask you to take your critic's hat off when watching The Kingdom. No, this is not a thought compelling thesis on the political wasteland that is the Middle East. If you are approaching this film as you would Syriana, you will be sorely disappointed. Like many of you, I do critique films but I chose not to do so with this one considering it is another Jamie Foxx action drama much like "Stealth." This film is similar to another politically incorrect action thriller "Executive Decision." Sure, the movie doesn't blatantly seek to adopt the action thriller label like Executive Decision or Rambo III but that's essentially what this film is. It's a heart pumping action thriller in which villains are stereotyped. There is a nice sense of voyeurism in which you feel that sensation of fear as Iraquis are watching you just waiting to take you out. This film is loads of fun on this level. I'm assuming most can distinguish the purpose of this film versus one like Babel. I'm not disagreeing with the reviews below. In fact, I agree with them. However, I do disagree that this film can't be enjoyed on a very Schwarzenegger level.
