Jason X (2001)

Spacecamp Crystal Lake — Written by Fux on 30.05.2009

If you liked the movie...don´t read my review ;)

Friday the 13th was like the beginning of teenager-horror or teenager-splatter, but after years passed by and snow covered the blood of many sequels the serie lost more and more flair. Even the newly invented mysticism in Jason IX was nothing compared with the shocking plot-twists in Jason X (aka: Jason: a Space Odyssey or Full Metal Jason).
Jason (or perhaps a Jason-clone...didn´t he go to hell in "Jason goes to hell"? Did he already fight Freddy?) somehow gets captured by the government and ends up frozen after killing nearly all soldiers guarding him.
450 years later he will be reanimated by Lexa Doig and Lisa Ryder on the Andromeda...sorry, my mistake...he´ll be reanimated by a professor and his students on a spaceship
(We are teenies....in space). After most of the people on the spaceship were hunted down and send to their grave (also the realism, the physics and the common sense), they finally manage to "kill" Jason (with sweet I´m-a-cyborg / have-you-seen-terminator? action). And they killed him were? Yes, on a nanotechnology-equipped medical station known to heal and reanimate everyone placed on it...
lame story short: Jason Xtreme strikes back, kills more people and finally...have you seen the end of Alien?

The movie had nothing to do with Friday the 13th except the main-charakter looked like Jason (most of the time) and quite a few teenager were killed.
Imagine Dirty Harry goes to the future to be the new Robocop...the idea seems funny, but the movie wouldn´t be a Dirty Harry-Movie. Exchange Dirty Harry with a Dirty-Harry-like charakter and the movie would be cooler.
Just like Jason X, if you like Sci-fi-teenie-splatter it is a half-decent movie... but there isn´t either the "real" Jason Voorhees nor is the date Friday the 13th .
