Abstract
Inspector Carrel discovers a dead man, strangely similar to him. To lead the investigation, he takes advantage of this similarity and pretends to be the victim Vidauban, which apparently was the leader of a gang. One person, Lucienne, his latest victim, is not fooled by the substitution.
