Django Unchained (2012)

Quentin Tarantino - well-known to us all, as a sarcastic basterd, who can show really important problems in specific, amusing way. In "Django Unchained" he took us for a journey somewhere in Texas, into the land of slavery and cotton fields. Movie is a kind of pastiche for old spaghetti westerns, but also a little tribute from Tarantino, to all producers of this type of westerns.

The main character is a black slave, freed by German bounty hunter, ex-dentist Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz a.k.a the-most-adorable-killer-ever). To get 100% freedom, Django (Jamie Fox) has to help his savior to kill bad men from King's bounty list and also collect a reward. Meanwhile, it turns out, that Django is a very good shooter and they make a deal - he will help Dr. Schultz in bounty hunting, and Dr. Schultz will help him to rescue his wife. Unfortunately Broomhilda (beautiful, gorgeous, fantastic Kerry Washington) is currenty a slave in a cotton plantation. After winter, Dr. Schultz and Django go to the Candieland in Mississippi (that's how the plantation is called). And how do we know, where they actually are? BECAUSE OF GIANT, AWKWARD, NUTTY INSCRIPTION SPELLING IT OUT FOR US, JUST LIKE HUGO STIGLITZ IN "IGNLOURIOUS BASTERDS". God bless you Quentin. Finally, you can meet one of the greatest roles in the whole movie - Calvin Candie, excuse me, Monsieur Calvin Candie, and yes, as you can expect he's the Candieland owner. Here's another fantastic character - embittered Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson - he still got the form!), who seems to be Candie's right, black hand. After meeting Stephen and Calvin's BEAUTIFUL SISTER, everything starts to be confusing, and the only thing you're waiting for is BIG BOOM, which I swear, will come, literally.

Another fantastic thing in this movie is of course soundtrack, and it doesn't matter it's an explosive mixture of rap and classical western songs - they have been mached just so perfect for every scene. The fact is, that "Django's" soundtrack deserves for its own review. Except awesome OST in "Django Unchained" we can find incredible, incredible cast. As Quentin once said, that he's a director of actors and they are the most improtant element in every scene - here, it's percebtible from probably more than 1km. Christoph Waltz as Dr. King Schultz is terrific! Also, he has already won a couple of awards for this role. Unluckily I have to say, that it's such a shame that practically no one has appreciated Leonardo's acting.. He has done great job as Calvin Candie - his unpredictability, and his arrogance were acted so brilliant, and did you know, that he actually cut his hand in I-KNOW-WHAT-YOU'RE-GUYS-ARE-PLANNING scene? And yes, it was his real blood on Kerry's face! What a sacrafice! Not forgetting about others, wonderful roles, I mean: Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington - really, your behaviors and quotes are cult! Overall, "Django" is violence, is gripping, is genius.

At the end, I should say my general view, so in my subjective opinion (because I'm huge Tarantino's fan, and I prefer his style, than any other) "Django Unchained" belongs to very small group of XXI century's films, which are just marvelous and polished in every single detail. I can truly recommed you this movie - it's worth seeing! So now you can go to the cinema, and spend your pocket money, and I promise - you won't regret.
