Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

I have never been a fan of Indiana Jones films. I wondered whether the directors or scenarists are able to surprise me. It turned out that in the last Steven Spielberg 's film I found the elements which had not been present in the series before.

The plot takes us to late 1950s. Radio plays Elvis Presley's songs and the United States believe deeply in the communists' conspiracy. The belief is not groundless as Stalin's people under the leadership of comrade Irina Spalko attack the warehouse in zone number 51 where the discover the Ark of the Covenant and...

The producers however made crass mistakes. They used too explicitly the elements from the previous three films. It is obviously the problem for the viewer who knows the whole series. Those who have not seen the previous Indiana Jones films will not be discouraged by the repetitions.

What is most important is the fact that "The Kingdom of Crystal Scull" has a fast pace, it is not boring, and most of all plays there Harrison Ford who, in spite of being 66, has no double in the film. Even an average role of Shia LaBeouf as a rebellious motor cyclist does not spoil the impression. Additionally we have got fantastic scenery: the pyramid of Nazca, graveyard during a storm, atomic bomb explosion or crater at the end of the film. From visual point of view nothing can be denied.

Summing up the film brings surprising turns of actions and mysteries. We can add thrill of emotion. old characters and new fresh film makers. The question is: will the modern audience like it?
