Abstract
A German soldier is sentenced as a prisoner of WWII to a labour camp in far east Siberia. After 4 years he escapes from the camp and tries to get home. For three years he journeys through Siberia. An odyssey of 14000 kilometers, set against a backdrop of desolate and inhospitable landscape, beset by danger of animals and humans.
