The series of games Resident Evil was originated by the first part which appeared in 1996. The main characters are zombies and the game gained immediately huge popularity. That seemed obvious that it should be soon screened. Firstly, George A. Romero, the 'father' of films with living corpses was supposed to film it but finally it is Paul W.S. Anderson became not only a director but also a scenarist.
The action takes place in underground headquarters of "Umbrella" corporation where suddenly a mysterious virus gets out of control. A special group of commandos is sent to the place. The commandos are under the leadership of Alice, a secret agent who temporarily lost her memory. What they discover is far beyond their imagination. All the workers of "Umbrella" corporation became bloodthirsty living corpses. But that is not everything as there are also rebellious Doberman pinschers and a monster called Licker. And that is the moment when they start fighting for survival...
Music adding to the atmosphere of the film is worth mentioning as it is composed by a controversial musician Marilyn Manson. In my opinion it is the best point of the film (except for two actresses Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez).
