Rémi, an orphan, fostered by the gentle Madam Barberin is snatched from his adoptive mother and entrusted to signor Vitalis, an itinerant musician. He learns the harsh life of acrobat and has to sing to earn a living. Along with his dog Capi and of the small monkey Joli-Coeur, his long trip through France, leads him to the secret of its origins.
