A ruthless profit maximizing corporate group wants to take over a beautiful tropical island in order to mine precious bird dung. To achieve that they hire Nick Gunar (Dolph Lundgren) who gathers a bunch of mercenaries to forcefully evacuate the native people inhabiting that island. Gunar is traumatized by his past and seems to be drinking quite heavily. Once arriving on paradise island he realizes that he can actually come to peace with himself living among the natives. He opposes the company he worked for and makes it very clear that anyone wanting to exploit the island has to pass him. Knowing Mr. Lundgren we see that is a very hard task for sure! His mercenary group splits into the greedy bad guys and the loyal island defenders. Finally a brutal and violent battle takes place which not many survive.

A very hard action film, almost too much violence even for our favorite Swedish actor. Just another cheap Dolph Lundgren film? Maybe, but defenitively one of his best! Nowadays all our action heroes have lost it, but back in 1994 they still knew how to make an awesome film. "Men of War" has it all, a lot of action, the good old 90s style, an evil villain and a converted hero. And a kind of moral that is so unbelievable simple that even I get it. Just the right stuff for an entertaining video evening with your friends. (Advisable not to be watched with your girlfriend though.)

Most memorable quote: "From Sweden, like me!"
