1665 in New France/Canada. Joseph Côté escapes from a prison to avoid death by hanging. He takes the identity of a Jesuit and hides in the seigneury of Beaufort where most men are waiting for " the king's daughters." (French women sent to Canada to find a husband.) He finds out that there are werewolves that terrorize the village.
