Abstract
Pina is an independent woman living in a small town in northern Italy. She’s unwed and approaching 40-years-old, so she places a personal ad in the newspaper stating her desire to find a man and marry. Adolfo di Palma, a bookseller in Rome, answers the personal ad. The story begins as he arrives in northern Italy to meet Pina in person.
