It's the perfect union between music and animation. A magnificent continuous clip covering a whole album of Daft Punk.
It's impossible for me to dislike this movie for two reasons:
In the first place, as French, I am proud of Daft Punk, and Discovery is the album which I prefer.
And secondly, I am 22 years old, I was lucky to have for hero Albator (so sexy), to like trains thanks to Galaxy Express 999 and to dream to be able to draw as Leiji Matsumoto.
I think that they had a magnificent idea by writing this scenario.
The absence of dialogue can be puzzling. Naturally, you can't expect a deep storyline or rich characterization from a movie that has no spoken dialogue. In spite of that, in Interstella 5555, we find perfectly the aesthetics of sets and characters, as well as the romanticism and the idea of honor and sacrifice which lives in all the productions of Matsumoto.
But in my opinion, that's necessary to like this kind of music, or this kind of drawing to estimate really this movie.
