It is with a considerable degree of regret that I see myself forced to write a review on a movie that promised so much and delivered so little. No, it's not a Michael Bay movie!

Hancock is a super-hero, capable of flying, inexhaustable strength and speed. He is Superman, or rather his antithesis. For despite his strengths Hancock spends the better part of his life drunk, incompassionate and apathetic; tired of his own abilities. He meets a PR-guru who aims to stir Hancock onto the way to righteousness and that is the point where the movie tries to appoint a personality to all the visual effects, which are often amusing yet too often lack a developing factor. Hancock soon discovers that there is a female counterpart with all the same abilities and that is where a curious melodrama unfolds.

Througout the movie the viewer feels that the movie constantly tries to justify its own existence. It offers a descent degree of humour in the first half but then desperately tries to become more dramatic and to improvise a storyline that would give itself the merest sense of credibility.
The characters aren't only shallow but hollow and the story leaves a lot to be desired.

A bit of cheap entertainment that will strike many viewers with a sense of time wasted.
Will Smith doesn't strike the pinnacle of his career with this movie.
