It's the year of 1998, the beginning is set on the airport of L.A., where there is a couple having a discussion and then breaking up. And this is where the story takes place. Emily, back then a young rebel, ex-girlfriend of a guitarist, just broke up with him and is looking for fun, then she meets this boy on the airport, Oliver. Their eyes meet a couple of times, and they end up heading to the same plane to New York, where Emily gets her time with him in the plane's bathroom. After that she doesn't tend to give him a lot of attention, but Oliver can't help it but to start a conversation in the subway. They end up crashing into each other in the city, and spend the day together. She leads him into a bar to take a drink, and they start a discussion about what Oliver would be doing about his career and his love life in the future - more specifically 7 years later - and so the story goes on. You can call it a love story, a drama at some points, but I call it nothing but destiny. A romance where the hands of fate have touched a long time ago, and no one is able to change it. This couple had everything to not work out, they had very distinctive minds from each other, and still, you can feel they are just meant to be together.
In these 7 years, Oliver and Emily keep encountering each other, first in a New Year’s party, then accidentally back in the town, every scene fulfilled with a glorious soundtrack, and excellent directing, perfect lightening combining the romance of these strangely loving characters, which you learn to love and hate through the movie.
As said before, this beautiful movie is recommended for just everyone, it’ll make you laugh, cry, and think about your own life, in every single subject. Almost ten years of pure, truly beautiful crossed stories, displayed in not even 2 hours, a running time which when it’s ended, almost makes you beg for more. Two final things: watch it and love it.
