"Being John Malkovich" gives a narrative depth to the Andy Warhol's forecast: "In the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes". A brilliant essey on identity and narcissism, performed by good actors including an excellent and unrecognizable Cameron Diaz.
The movie is a bizarre mixture of fantastic comedy, drama and satire, where the absurd becomes more credible than the ordinary.

"Persepolis" is the transposition of Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel. She recounts her girlhood in Iran and beyond, starting with the Shah being deposed and the rise of Iran's current fundamentalist Islamic state, and stretching through Satrapi's parents' decision to send her to school in Vienna, where she faced a different set of prejudices. Although the movie deals with material that could so easily become mawkish, it instead remains sharp, pacy and always surprising, thanks largely to a smart protagonist-narrator who welcomes self-deprecation while always rejecting the mantle of victimhood. An absolutely must see movie
