This was the first thing that came to my mind, when the credits rolled up. I watched this movie 1 year before the official release in Germany on the Fantasy Filmfestival and it surpassed all the other films I saw there. Now, after watching it like ten times already, it's still one of my favorite movies ever.

Why I love it so much? Because it gives me everything I like about science fiction and movies in general. The whole visual experience and sound design, the remoteness in space and the sun, the fucking sun! I tell you it definitely IS hot, you can almost feel it. Also the story is really well written. Just when you think it's alright, it gets worse and every character gets his moment in the movie and little mistakes have big consequences.

It has one big flaw of course and that should be the reason for the average rating on IMDb and WTM. I won't spoil anything but part of the third act is a huge disappointment and I can understand people giving the movie low ratings because of this. At this part, the movie is just a random SciFi flick (still looking awesome tho). But for me, I see it as a loud commercial break, not related to the movie at all. Just Ignore it, do something else, then come back to see a beautiful ending. Luckily this "commercial break" doesn't last very long, so don't judge the whole movie on it.

First of all, Duncan Jones's debut feature film is awesome. Also he seems to be a nice guy to hang around with (watch his appearance in Robert Llewellyns "CarPool" show). I see great potential in him and look forward to his next, very promising project "Source Code".

I love it when SciFi films really give you the feeling of remoteness and "Moon" is exactly that: One guy alone on the moon, watching over some helium-3 harvesters with nobody else to talk to except for a computer with limited expressions who "just want's to help". A very friendly version of HAL 9000.
Some would say, "Wait! Over one hour movie with just one person hangin' around on a moon base doing nothing?" Well, no. It's a movie, so stuff happens. But I don't want to spoil anything. It is indeed a very slow movie (that's how science fiction should be) and you still get to see only this one actor over the whole movie, not mentioning a few persons he only sees on screen once in a while. But don't let that stop you from watching it.

Since this movie had a very limited budget it doesn't look as perfect as, let's say, Star Trek. When you look closely you can see some metal is actually made out of wood and the scenes on moon's surface look a bit odd, but apart from that they did a great job. It's not that important anyway and there is still a huge amount of possible high score WTM-shots in this movie ;)

Also Sam Rockwell should get an Oscar for his stunning performance. But as this is an independent movie, Sony Pictures was not interested in sending a copy to the Academy, saying it wasn't released in the US yet (WTM-folks are aware of that) and they don't want it to leak on the internet. Well, good joke, assholes.

Just calling this movie "Antichrist" was enough to make me pay for a ticket when it was released in cinema. Although, after watching it for the third time now (one with director's commentary) I still don't fully get which part of the movie has anything to do with the antichrist (*), but what I do know is that I absolutely love it.

Director Lars Von Trier, who went through a deep depression while making this film, managed to get the attention at Cannes Film Festival with this very explicit and shocking piece of art. Of course, critics were mixed. Some hated it, some loved it.
If you are willing to dig deeper into the movie, trying to understand the meaning of it, you will see there is much more behind it than violence and grotesque porn. You shouldn't watch this while eating though.

Also Charlotte Gainsbourg, ooh I love her, gives us a brillant (and very brave) performance, winning the Best Actress award at Cannes. Totally deserved.

The visual aspect of "Antichrist" is just jaw-dropping and very asthetic. Especially the slooooow-motion stuff, shot with a 1,000 fps camera, is awesome (and perfect for WTM).

(*) I do have a theory about it. I think the movie itself impersonates the antichrist. If you get what I mean.
