The Dick Proenneke Collection

Dick Proenneke was an American naturalist who lived alone in the high mountains of Alaska at a place called Twin Lakes. Living simply in a log cabin he constructed by hand, Proenneke made valuable recordings of both scientific data and film of his life in the woods. The resulting footage was made into a series of documentary films.

Using color footage he shot himself, Proenneke traces how he came to this remote area, selected a homestead site and built his log cabin completely by himself.
