An American plane crashes in the Cambodian jungle, the pilot is caught by the Khmer Rouge. The kids of a village watch the prisoner and gradually befriend him. An older boy, Pan, grew up as an orphan and accepted the Khmer rouge as his replacement parents. When Pang becomes responsible for watching the prisoner, things become worse for the pilot.
