In the aftermath events of GARO: Chapter of the Black Wolf, Saejima Kouga sets out to the northern district upon reassignment. While hunting down Horrors, a young priestess named Rin informs Kouga that she's been sent by Priest Amon to save a presumed dead friend in the Makai realm within Kantai, Jabi.

Garo: Soukoku no Maryu (lit. Blue Cries of the Demon Dragon) is the second film to the Garo series. The film serves as an epilogue after Makai Senki and leads up to The One Who Shines in the Darkness. The story continues after the events of Makai Senki.

A powerful dark priestess was sealed away using a mystical flute. Now, with the realm's protector away, two fallen priests seek to resurrect her by playing the sacred instrument's forbidden melody.

Ryuga and Makai Priest Rian attempt to cleanse the Golden Armor when they are confronted by living weapons- the Madou– who have another way to free the world from Horrors. In the process, Ryuga will unlock a new stage of power referred to as Garo Sho.

Ryuga Dogai returns to investigate a new mystery - the theft of Makai Knights Armour. Among the victims are Ryuga's old comrades from the Volcity crisis, Takeru and Aguri. The three will face off against an enemy previously though defeated - Zinga.

After the events of Lament of the Dark Dragon, Kouga and Kaoru married and started a family. Kaoru gave birth to the successor of Garo: Raiga Saejima. Unknown to everyone, Raiga's birth also marked the return of Barago. Although he was devoured by Messiah, a remnant of Barago survived and lingered in the darkness for some time.

Lurking among us are the Horrors, ancient enemies of our kind hailing from another realm. Holding the line against them, down through the ages, are the Makai Knights.
