Stéphane, a teacher in Geneva, is married to cold, dry-hearted christine. One day, Belle Shermann, an American student comes to stay at their villa. The teacher hardly notices her. But his dull life is turned upside down when Belle is found strangled to death and he is soon suspected of being the murderer.
