Finney Blake, ashy clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadist and trapped in a soundproof basement. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer's previous victims. And they are dead-set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.

Some of the imagery genuinely unsettled me, and I appreciated how the film never pulled its punches when depicting brutal violence among children. The use of Pink Floyd near the end was a perfect atmospheric choice and gave the finale real weight. Once the horror fully emerges, though, the underlyin
