After the death of her father and betrayal by her fiancé, Rosario is cast adrift in Veracruz. She becomes a prostitute, living above a cabaret and working to please the sailors. One night a handsome, lonely sailor rescues her from a brutal drunk. A romance blossoms, but the revelation of a shocking secret shatters their only chance at happiness.
