Yes, the customized-duration-lock (increasing with the number of shots you've already uploaded) could even be a better idea. We thought of a similar idea a long time ago, but somehow we forgot... I'm not sure how much more complex it would be to code, though. I'll talk about it with kinoute and Asmo, thanks.

Hmm, no idea about Nero.

Perhaps try VLC. Its very small, free, doesnt require any codecs to play anything, low on memory usage, and doesnt fill your computer up with loads of rubbish like Nero suite does :)

And takes perfect screenshots in PNG, more importantly.

Wait, this point of view was NOT as a moderator, just as a player. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I can however say, that many ratings are checked (normal ones randomly, but SotD and vaults very often), for patterns regarding users, connections with "own" uploads and many other things.
However, thank you for your suggestions, it is one of the many things we are taking under advisement. However, this won't stop the major problem: people rating their friends higher: what's to stop a group of friends to just use chat, facebook or whatever to tell all their friends which shots are theirs? Do you also think that all names should be removed from shouts then, because this also gives clues to the uploader, but will take some more coding AND inhibit some great discussions. I disagree with you that it is "THE ONLY WAY", and even am not sure it is a good way.
@Szpulsky: I won't deny that probably some users get more accepts than others, but that is purely because they have a taste of shots that most people like. This isn't personal, it's just somebody being your favorite. Compare it to Kubrick movies getting rated higher than W.A. Andersen: people like them more.
About the ratings: mods have more information than you, where you think something is suspicious, it makes total sense for us. I won't disclose all votes, but there is more going on behind the scenes than you know. SotD's are chosen through a formula, which works well (we've tested it thoroughly with all kind of voting behaviors).
About the two SotD's: I (personally) don't think they're that good either, but apparently others did. The group counts here.
And trust me, these cheaters will be found ;)

I don't think more needs to be written in the rules for it, because every shot is different. In some cases it's clear to me (for example, a shot of a road in empty fields with a car in the distance. The movie might be in the US or so, but you can't see it from the shot), but in other cases we discuss it with the staff first.
Regarding your examples: Statue in both cases I would allow, also the one in Paris because it still represents the US. Same as your Italia, it might be a movie set in America, but the shot says Europe to us.
The two skylines: fine with me, both have some iconic buildings where no similar ones exist to my knowledge.
As for Source Code: I don't recognize it, the brick building looks familiar, so I'd do some research to check if it's unique and well-known. My first guess would have been Gotham, though, but that probably makes some sense ;)

So, what the knowledge level of solvers is, in my opinion: high knowledge is fine, as long as the shot has something in it that's unique and iconic for the continent. A recognizable building of which only 1 exist (or where the other ones can be considered as "copies", such as your statue of liberty or for example the eiffel tower in Vegas). If I google "Statue of woman holding torch" or even "Statue of liberty", virtually all results first mention New York, not Paris

I just tried to upload a snapshot from a movie.
I already have 4 shots from that movie accepted, and as a supporter I normally can upload up to 5 shots from the same movie.
During the upload process, after inserting the Captcha code, this time I got the following message: "Sorry, You already uploaded two Snapshots of this movie. Become a WTM Supporter and upload up to 5 Snapshots from the same movie".
I tried to repeat the process 4 or 5 times but the problem was not solved.
It seems that the system is now treating me as if I were not a supporter anymore, even if on my WTM home page I still have the "WTM Supporter" black logo active.
Is this system malfunction maybe related to the change of password that I did this morning to solve the other known bug?
I'll choose a snapshot from another movie for the time being: please let me know how can I solve this problem, thanks!

Pour ce qui est des awards, j'ai demandé à @miascugh si il pouvait m'en dessiner quelques uns. Pas encore eu de réponse pour le moment mais je peux te dire déjà l'intitulé de ces derniers, rien de bien folichon néanmoins :

• 30k Feature Films
• 40k Feature Films
• 50k Feature Films
• Award for people who have more than 10 SOTDs (snapshot of the day)
• 500 First Solves (like a laser or something ?)
• Award for people who contribute a lot (character shots, title shots, trailers, genre etc, see the HoF)
• "Award"/Memorabilia for people who were in the team but are no longer active (like the supporter memorabilia)

J'ai deux trois autres features à coder mais c'est plus des trucs réservés aux mods/admins qu'aux utilisateurs donc ça ne se verra pas. J'ai quelques idées pour le forum et le blog pour redynamiser tout ça mais il faut que j'en parle avec l'équipe pour avoir leur avis !

En tout cas j'ai bien hâte de faire le contest DtW 3, j'espère que t'as déjà préparé tes 3 shots car moi oui !

Sorry that I didn't react to your shout earlier, but I have been extremely busy lately.
First of all: we can't track shout rocks/craps, like we can do with votes, therefore we cannot keep as close an eye on unfair behaviour this way. I agree that in some cases it might be handy to check on these things, but since there is no coder and when one will be found there are items with more priority on the list (like getting the site to actually work), it may take some time before something like this gets implemented.
Because of this same reason, it is hard to find proof of it being one person that craps shouts of a particular other person. You keep talking about "the crapper", but you have no proof at all if it's one person, or just a whole bunch of people that hate you. I agree that it is totally unfair and rude behavior anyways, but there is just nothing that we can do against it with the system as it is now. This, however, is NO reason to just go crapping shouts of people who just stumbled onto your profile and that you suspect of these actions.
About that someone crapped my shout: let them, I really don't give a fuck, as long as I have enough bucks to do my things.
As I said, I agree that it is totally abnormal and behaviour we don't want on this site, and shouldn't tolerate, it's just that there is nothing to do against it now. Sorry for that.

i don't know about the release in france. In germany it was released on 19.04. or 20.04. i think. I watched the movie fasten after getting shiped, and found finally your shot after the movie slot was blocked. 1 week later i try it again, and what happens, damn again taken. And you again taken the slot, i hope you understand that people are sad about this unfair doing.
Of course you are right, the mods/creators have to code something, but why we not can behave like gentlemen and a nice community until this happen? You can never make enough rules and laws to get a good community. You need people do it by comprehension and not just because the feature is made.

And of course i know that the 2 mods not warned you. I just wanted to tell you, that mods don't like to see your doing. And other people like Vito, Basai and others already get a shout from a mod. You can read it on their profiles. So be happy you get just a hint from another people instead a warning from a mod. I don't wanted affront you. If i wanted affront you, i done it in another way: i denunciated you at a mods profile, then you get surely a warning. I don't choosen this way, because i respect you as a good old uploader.

And that you use a great amout of movies i have to agree by your number of upload shots, but if take a short look at your last uploads: you don't use your great amout, you take tons of shots from the same movie in a row: just some examples of your last uploads (i just taken the one i know in the overview, there are surely more if i look closer)

if you use your great amout you can surely 1-2 months uploading shots without taking the same movie slot again, why you dont do it?
