Cheating would currently work for archived screenshots (we will obviously never include Feature Films to this search).

But let's be serious, if some person wanted to cheat on "old snapshots" it has been possible since we have introduced the "show solution" button. Create a second account, request the solutions, enter them with your first account. That's the reason why we don't have a halloffame for these solves and display the number quite small on you own profile.

It is however intended to simply enlarge the screens rather than linking to them in the tab #check. We haven't implemented the movie page yet, but you will be able to see all snapshots (from the archive + links) on that page.

So obviously the new site is directed to more participation (via Memorabilia & Bucks) and solved "Feature Film" shots. I like it ! It will not be only a huge cinephilia knowledge battle, but also a huge platform around cinema and pictures, asking for involvement of players. Exciting !

I think it's great to be able to see old screenshots that were already posted!

As for cheaters, as long as it doesn't concern "feature films" it's ok i guess.

yeah LePaposaure, we'd like to expand the whatthemovie universe.
Solving snapshots is still the main game, but we intend to attract people which want to write reviews, inform themselves about movies, etc as well

About movie's page, I think it would be fair that only people who have solved at least one shot of a movie, could see all the screenshots in the movie's page. For me, it' would be a sort of reward for those who are still guessing archives shots, and the movie's page (and the voting, reviews and other features associated) are still accessible for everyone.
And for the motivation, you could put a sentence like "Guess one of the shots and see all them" in the screenshots windows.

This "feature" contradicts our aim to make the site more "public", open it for everyone.

I dream of people searching for a movie on google, hitting our page and getting a first impression of the movie through the snapshots.
That's kind of the uniqueness of WTM, we have real snapshots from movies, sometimes IMDB does'nt have..

I understand. It's a little "playless" compared to WTMv1 for me, but I think I can manage the disappointment (and work my english for the future reviews in movie's pages) :p

Maybe there's a way to let people choose in their profile if they want to see all screenshots of a movie. You can set the standard on showing all screenshots, but people who want to solve old skills could turn the screenshots off.

I tested the upload category a little bit more deeply :

• I posted a shot of a french movie, named "Darling", released in 2007 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0881233 (*edit : there are two films with the same title in the same year !). I think no shots have been posted from this title already, nevertheless I found a link in your database, and I think it was the link of the Darling from 1965 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059084 ! And in fact I had no tools to check it. Perhabs you could add something to help the uploader to be sure that the title he wants to choose in your database is the good one (the link to IMDB page, for example), because there's a lot of similar titles in Cinema's history (Scarface, It, Psycho, etc...).
• I tried to post more than 3 shots, and the limit by user worked ! ("This is you maximum allowed and you can't upload any more until a snapshot leaves the queue.")
• I posted a shot from a movie I already uploaded a different shot of. I had no message at all about that, and I know we're not able to do it. Is there something planned for that ?

I liked the enlarge screenshot in the "Verify" tab, it's a pity we don't have the same in the "Chek" tab, instead of the possibility to go directly to the shot's page... (Yeah, I know, a site more "public"... :p)

From the FAQ:
You are not able to post more than 2 snapshots of the same movie and have more than 3 snapshots simultaneously in the category New Submissions.

So, you're allowed to post 2, you should try to upload a third to test it.

Outch ! I just posted a 4th shot... and the 3rd shot of the same movie !
I think it's not really a bug, because as I opened several windows of WTM on my navigator, I had a window with the upload category generated before having posted the third shot or the day (and before the limitation). So I achieved the uploading in this window and had a marvelous error page !

But now the 4rth shot is uploaded, and it's a 3rd shot of the same movie !
I'll try to test a repost of the same movie, in the real conditions, when I will have less than 3 shots in the queue.

I think it is a problem that you have to know the original title when uploading. If someone doesn't know that (and I didn't find any message indicating that on the page) he will think that no shots are posted of this film yet. So checking for doubles does not work in this case. I don't know how difficult it is to track the movie with alternative titles. If it is too complicated there should at least be a message with regard to the original title being necessary.

Yeah, Zanapher already mentioned the "movies with the same name" problem. We'll append the year like IMDB does.

And you are totally right, the enlarge snapshot feature will be added to the verify tab as well.
