Character Shots: Guidelines

I would like to enter the name of the actor when I add a new character, currently can not... why?

Because that was never made/coded. All the current actors in the database are there because the character was imported, or because me or Zob have manually added them. If it's only a couple (or from 1 movie), you can send me a shout and I will see if I can find the time tonight to add them. If you just mean always on principle, you'll have to wait until it can get coded.. Sorry about that.

Ah, ok. My question was of a general nature, I have a lot of character shot that are not listed and I can't ask a so heavy job to the moderators ;)
I don't like upload character shots without the name of the actor, so... I think I have to wait patiently for the code - and for the kinoute actor database, I love this idea http://whatthemovie.com/actor/scarlett_johansson

Well, that system already works, you just have to manually change the name of the actor to whoever you want to see :) I try to add as much as possible, so they will keep growing, of course.

There is not (yet) a search button for the actors, so you have to write in the address bar:
http://whatthemovie.com/actor/
and add name and surname of the actor separated with the underscore. For example:
http://whatthemovie.com/actor/scarlett_johansson
http://whatthemovie.com/actor/marcello_mastroianni
http://whatthemovie.com/actor/antonio_banderas
;)

Don't forget it's an unfinished feature I made quickly, it was just an example of what we could possibly do with actors' and (later) directors' page

It would be maybe useful to add somewhere in the instructions that character shot must be, as possible, shots that would have been impossible to upload as FF shots. IMHO, uploading a really awesome shot like for example #368499 as a character shot is a pitty.

That's basically what the last line of the original post is about.

As for 368499, it was tried in NS first... and didn't make it.

I'm cleaning some characters stuff, especially cases when a single shot was assigned to more than one character. In this movie (Citizen Kane), which character has the correct shot? I don't remember the movie in details:

What to do when there's a character shot (suggested by Scruffy) with more than one character, all recognizable equally?
Add it several times?

Examples: #539928 #541085

You can ignore Scruffy's shout (and even delete it). The character should be isolated enough in the shot from the other characters to be considered as a valid character shot
