Funny film about some teenagers flying all the way from the States to Ireland in order to enjoy a nice mushroom-induced drug trip. Why bother crossing the Atlantic Oceans to go shroom-tripping? Don´t ask! Once there the kids travel to the woods and can´t wait to collect and consume no matter what kind of mushrooms. Of course it turns out to be a real horror-trip as one by one of the group get´s slaughtered. Supposedly by very strange hillbilly-wood-inahbitants. Just the usual kind of horror trash you rent at your local video store? Quite right. On the other hand, watch it and you might be surprised! OK, Shrooms offers nothing that we have not already seen before, but it still might surpise you...

Better than average - yet not great. 6/10

A ruthless profit maximizing corporate group wants to take over a beautiful tropical island in order to mine precious bird dung. To achieve that they hire Nick Gunar (Dolph Lundgren) who gathers a bunch of mercenaries to forcefully evacuate the native people inhabiting that island. Gunar is traumatized by his past and seems to be drinking quite heavily. Once arriving on paradise island he realizes that he can actually come to peace with himself living among the natives. He opposes the company he worked for and makes it very clear that anyone wanting to exploit the island has to pass him. Knowing Mr. Lundgren we see that is a very hard task for sure! His mercenary group splits into the greedy bad guys and the loyal island defenders. Finally a brutal and violent battle takes place which not many survive.

A very hard action film, almost too much violence even for our favorite Swedish actor. Just another cheap Dolph Lundgren film? Maybe, but defenitively one of his best! Nowadays all our action heroes have lost it, but back in 1994 they still knew how to make an awesome film. "Men of War" has it all, a lot of action, the good old 90s style, an evil villain and a converted hero. And a kind of moral that is so unbelievable simple that even I get it. Just the right stuff for an entertaining video evening with your friends. (Advisable not to be watched with your girlfriend though.)

Most memorable quote: "From Sweden, like me!"

Gino Felino (Steven Seagal) is chasing a brutal mobster, who is on some kind of murderous kamikaze-tour through New York. Still young, tough and very good at doing his Aikido stuff, Seagal rolls trough the streets of Brooklyn, mutilating and killing crooks. Both he and his opponent kill numerous people on their way, steadily rising the body count. This probably gave the film its German title "Das Brooklyn Massaker" ("The Brooklyn Massacre"). It´s not quite clear if it is Seagal or his nemesis signing responsible for the massacre. Probably both. Though Seagal being a cop has justice on his side. To the spectator it might seem more like a vigilante thing that Steven is into. Yet this being a typical early 90s action Seagal-flick (just the kind we love!) we don't really care about morals or political correctness, do we? NO! We want bone breaking Aikido moves, Seagal-inflicted pain, violence and action. We get it! So if you only know today´s fat and slow Schwabbel-Steven ("Wobbling-Steven"), please, give this man a chance and watch some of his older works. "Out for Justice" (1991) really is a good one from his better days.

An old gypsy lady enters a bank to ask for a loan in order to save her house from being taken by greedy bankers. Unfortunately Christine, the young accountant, denies her the money because she has to prove to her boss that she can make tough decisions. Which is important for being promoted. The perspective of not getting the money and losing her house makes the old lady seriously angry. She puts a very nasty curse on poor Christine. Being hexed she will now be molested by an evil demon for three days before finally being dragged to hell. With the help of a psychic she tries to get rid of the curse and escape from spending the rest of her days in hell…

The storyline is boring and foreseeable to the end, which does not come as a big surprise. The idea to end the curse the psychic comes up with in the end is so incredibly simple, that we ask ourselves why they did not think of it earlier. The answer is easy — it would have ended the film after twenty minutes.
Nevertheless does director Sam Raimi deliver a nice piece of work, not outstanding but nice. The effects are all right, the actors do quite a good job and there are some funny moments. Especially the scenes when the demon refuses the sacrificial kitten and when he enters a goat. ---SPOILER: And of course when Christine is eventually being dragged to hell! — She didn´t really deserve it, though. SPOILER END---

By the way, the old lady is so shockingly disgusting that nobody would have given her even the smallest loan.

Private investigator Joseph C. Hallenbeck reluctantly teams up with ex NFL football pro Jimmy Dix to investigate the murder of Dix´s girlfriend Corey. Along the way they stumble upon a conspiracy to bribe US Senators. L.A. Stallions owner Sheldon Marcone is afraid of the downfall of professional football. To make it more attractive to the audience he intends to legalize gambling. Therefore he buys Senators´ votes or tries to kill those who greedily demand too much money. Unfortunately he has not counted on the Dynamic Duo Hallenbeck/Dix who completely ruin his plans.

Probably one of the best pieces of work from director Tony Scott. Excellent action sequences, nice shootouts and quite funny dialogue. Bruce Willis is awesome, Hallenbeck is the kind of character Willis was made for. He could easily be mistaken for some well-known NY cop named Mclane. Same cynical attitude, equally high body count and a broken marriage. Sometimes you might think this was a cigarette commercial. Hallenbeck is constantly smoking while killing a whole lot of bad guys. Yet this being the early 90´s it is still cool to smoke. Just as it is not important if it´s politically correct to kill people first and ask questions later. Hallenbeck gives a damn!
The Last Boy Scout is a great movie, one of my all-time favorites. If you liked the Die Hard films you will for sure love this one. Haven´t seen it? - Go see it!
